FoldaVirus generates theoretical models using AlphaFold2 and in-house developed techniques for manipulation and analysis.

The results of any theoretical modelling procedure are non-experimental and must be considered with care as models may contain significant errors. This is specially true for automated modeling since there is no human intervention during model building.

All the information in FoldaVirus is provided "AS-IS", without any warranty of any kind, expressed or implied.

Privacy

This website uses Matomo, an open-source software, to compile access statistics and to analyze general usage behavior on the website. This information is used to compile aggregated and anonymous statistics in order to improve our services and to enhance user's experience.

Matomo runs exclusively in our servers and no personal data is transmitted to Matomo or any third party. Matomo is configured in such way that no personal data is collected.

Information that we collect from each request made to the website:

• IP address (masked, anonymized)
• Date and time of a visit to the service
• Operating System
• Amount of data transmitted
• Browser

Cookies and local storage

FoldaVirus does not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. If you sign in to an account, we use:

• Authentication cookie – strictly necessary to keep you signed in. It cannot be read by scripts, is never sent to other websites, lasts up to 7 days, is renewed while you use the site and is removed when you sign out.
• Browser local storage – remembers the page you were visiting so you can return to it after signing in.

Experiment Submission Data

When you submit an experiment through FoldaVirus, we collect and store the following information in order to process your request and deliver results:

• Email address – used to notify you when your experiment is complete
• Project title – a label you provide to identify your experiment
• Organization – your institutional affiliation
• Protein sequence(s) – the amino acid sequence(s) you submit for analysis
• Visibility preference – whether you choose to make your experiment public or unlisted

This data is stored on our servers and is used exclusively for processing your experiment and improving our services. We do not share your personal information (email address, organization) with third parties. Experiment results may be publicly listed unless you choose the unlisted option at submission time. All experiments results are publicly accessible through their experiment id.

If you are signed in when you submit, the experiment is associated with your account and your email address and organization are taken from your profile. Verified account holders may also choose to link experiments previously submitted without an account using the same email address; ownership is determined by that email address.

User Accounts

Creating an account is optional; FoldaVirus can still be used without one. By creating an account you agree to these terms.

Registration

• You must provide accurate information: your name, a valid email address and, optionally, your organization.
• Only one account may be registered per email address.
• Your email address must be verified before the account can be used. Verification links expire after 24 hours.

Account security

• You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account.
• Passwords are stored only as a one-way cryptographic hash; we can never see or recover your password.
• If you forget your password, you can request a reset link by email. Reset links expire after 24 hours.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Share your account or let others submit experiments through it.
• Register multiple accounts to obtain additional tokens or bypass usage limits.
• Submit experiments through automated or scripted means, or otherwise place an unreasonable load on our computing resources.

We may suspend or deactivate accounts that violate these terms or misuse the service.

Information we store about your account

• Profile – first and last name, email address and organization
• Credentials – a hash of your password
• Account activity – verification status, date of your last sign-in, account creation date, and the date and version of these terms you accepted
• Token history – tokens allocated, used per experiment and refunded

We send only emails related to your account and experiments (email verification, password resets and experiment notifications). We do not send marketing emails and do not share your account information with third parties.

Tokens

Tokens are a usage allowance that lets us share our computing resources fairly among account holders.

Tokens have no monetary value and cannot be purchased, sold, exchanged or transferred to another account. Submitting without an account remains available, subject to a limited number of submissions per email address per day.

Data Retention & Account Deletion

We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. You can request the deletion of your account at any time through the contact form, using the email address registered to the account.

When an account is deleted:

If you also want specific experiments removed, include their experiment ids in your request. Experiments are only deleted at the request of the person who submitted them.
